The major conflict for the whole book is Felix wanting to find his parents. Felix would never have ran away from the orphanage if he didn't want to know where his parents were. But if he hadn't run away from the orphanage then he would never have met Zelda, he would never had gone to the city and met Barney, and basically every other part of the story would not have happened. At the end, there was actually no resolution for Felix to finding his parents, but he learned that his parents had left him for a reason, even if he still wanted to find them.
